Catherine Christopher

As an Intensive Case Manager, employed by O.C.E.A.N. Inc, a Community Action Agency, I work with low-income individuals and families. Assisting them in finding affordable housing and submitting the State Rental Assistance Program application to secure a permanent Housing Choice Voucher.  The clients I serve have challenging circumstances in which I provide guidance and referrals for services such as mental health, substance abuse, household items assistance, home energy and other community resources.

I am currently enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at Georgian Court University and graduated from Kean University with a B.A. in Sociology and Criminal Justice in January 2020.

I have been in the field of social worker for over 3 years, having been employed by Bright Harbor Health Care as a case worker in the P.A.T.H program prior to my current employment and have served Ocean County as a Juvenile Detention Officer for 2 1/2 years.

I volunteer my time as a Community Emergency Response Team officer through the Ocean County Sheriff’s department under O.E.M., as well as other voluntary positions within Ocean County.

I am the mother of 3 adult children and 2 beautiful grandchildren and have been a resident of Ocean County since 1999 first moving to Brick then having lived in the central area of the County, I currently reside in one of the shore towns.  I believe in being a part of the change we wish to see in the world which is why I dedicate my time and service for the betterment of those who need a hand up not just a handout.
