Founder and Board Chair Tiffany deSousa on Conversations with Calvin, a YouTube based podcast focusing on New Jersey nonprofits.

Calvin Schwartz interviewed deSousa about CLCL Foundation’s TreeHouse Program for at-risk youth in crisis and their innovate approaches to addressing, preventing, and ending youth homelessness.

Calvin and Tiffany discussed the Runaway Homeless Youth Act (RHYA, 1974), her Shelter experience at 17, and how her teacher received custody just days before Christmas in 2001.

Runaway Youth May Find New Home In Ocean County – Jersey Shore Online

Our communities are facing unprecedented familial stress, homelessness epidemics, and an adolescent mental health crisis.

Together we can rise to this challenge. We believe that TOGETHER we can BE THE CHANGE we know our communities, youth, and families need.

We formed on December 30, 2023, because the only Emergency Youth Shelter Program, crisis intervention, and safe haven for 10- to 19-year-olds closed down on July 28th. Now, there is no safe haven in Ocean or Monmouth County for respite, homeless adolescents, runaways, or those in need of crisis intervention.

The Ocean County Youth Services Commission reports a lack of housing. Last reported in 2023, nearly 162,813 youth between the ages of 10 – 19 reside in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

BEYOND HOUSING

We are building innovative solutions to address food insecurity and poverty-based neglect allegations, unaffordable family time and fun, unhoused 18–24-year-olds, and restoration of Emergency Safe Refuge for minor youth.

Choose love. Celebrate life. A Foundation for Youth and Families, Incorporated is an official 501(c)(3) public charity, registered in the state of NJ, and qualified donations are tax deductible!
